Loving our streets!

By Nicole and Kaitlyn

On Saturday 20th February some families from St Columba's participated in Love Our Street 3184. Love Our Street is an initiative to help keep our streets clean and tidy. We picked up rubbish and filled 25 bags of litter. It is amazing how much people litter. It was quite a blast!

Did you know...

Thanks to our great efforts the Love Our Street 3814 group collected:

  • 26 bags of litter, plus large hard waste items
  • 16 bottles, 7 cans
  • 456 cigarette butts counted by one volunteer alone - plus hundreds more by the group

The 22 volunteer hours amounted to $550 in funds being donated by the Well Waters project to our friends at St Joseph's Primary School in Elsternwick to assist them in meeting their target for water tanks and a rain garden (as St Columba's was lucky enough to be able to do last year with our Well Waters grant money).

We'd love to hear your thoughts on the various waste and litter activities that we are involved with in the Elwood community and at school, so please pass them onto the Green Team.

What our parents & students say

"St Columba's offers so much more than just an excellent education program. When you enrol your child at St Columba's you join the vibrant supportive community. We couldn't be happier at St Columba's."
