MIDDLE + SENIOR SCHOOL

It is a well-known fact amongst our feeder schools that our children are, “...confident, happy, capable young people, academically ready for secondary school”.

Over the duration of our carefully crafted 7-year IB program, we equip children with the critical thinking, emotional intelligence, social skills, self-efficacy and academic rigour needed to not just survive but thrive into secondary school and throughout their life.

Students in all year levels have the opportunity to represent their peers at Student Representative Council (SRC) where they have a say in things like school policies and exciting future plans such as the school master plan. Students also have the chance to take on different roles in the classroom setting, with responsibilities such as the leadership of morning prayer or office monitor.

Our Approach

Learning and teaching consists of explicit, evidence based instruction. Underpinned by the IB inquiry based curriculum framework. We take a student-centred approach that reflects the best of educational research.

What lies ahead

The middle and senior years are pivotal in your child’s educational journey, leading up to the culmination of their primary school experience: the Year 6 Exhibition. Instilling your child with the skills of perspective, critical thinking, collaboration and independence. Preparing them to thrive in a new and vastly different world.

YEAR 3 : BUILDING FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS AND CONFIDENCE IN LITERACY, NUMERACY AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

LITERACY Students build on reading and writing fluency by focusing on grammar, sentence structure, and spelling. They explore perspectives through texts like narratives and poetry, while writing emphasises clear sentences, storytelling, and cohesive text organisation.

NUMERACY Students deepen their understanding of numbers, patterns, measurement, geometry, and statistics, focusing on operations, fractions, angles, and shapes. They engage in hands-on activities and problem-solving tasks to develop reasoning skills. Visual tools like models and symbols help represent mathematical ideas.

SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT Students strengthen self-awareness and their place in the world by understanding emotions, fostering empathy, and building positive relationships. Through teamwork, they learn to communicate effectively and resolve conflicts constructively.

YEAR 4 : DEVELOPING INDEPENDENCE, PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS AND CONFIDENCE IN LEARNING

LITERACY Students engage with complex texts, including poetry, non-fiction, and digital materials. Writing focuses on persuasive, explanatory, and narrative texts with multiple characters and clear events. They develop skills in planning, drafting, editing, and improve handwriting, grammar, and performance skills like reading aloud.

NUMERACY Students deepen math skills through real-world applications, focusing on problem-solving and practical reasoning. Key topics include shapes, angles, symmetry, multiplication, division and measurement. They learn the value of math in everyday life.

SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT Year 4 is a pivotal time as students develop greater independence, build confidence, and improve their communication skills through collaboration, research, and presentations.

YEAR 5: STRENGTHENING CRITICAL THINKING, MATHEMATICAL FLUENCY AND SOCIAL CONNECTIONS

LITERACY Students explore complex texts, including novels, poetry, media, and indigenous storytelling, learning to evaluate meaning and express opinions. Writing focuses on reports, reviews and narratives. They refine handwriting and apply literacy skills across all learning areas.

NUMERACY Year 5 expands on fractions, decimals, and real-world problem-solving using models and practical strategies. Key skills include measuring angles, calculating perimeter and area, interpreting data, and solving financial and chance-based problems.

SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT Students strengthen peer relationships, build empathy, and navigate social dynamics. They grow in self-awareness, emotional regulation, and abstract thinking, preparing for their final year of primary school.

YEAR 6: FOSTERING LEADERSHIP, SELF-CONFIDENCE AND READINESS FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL

LITERACY Students refine writing skills, analyse texts, and evaluate figurative language in preparation for secondary school. They develop communication and analytical skills through speaking, reading, and discussing different viewpoints.

NUMERACY Students deepen their math understanding through real-life applications, covering positive and negative numbers, decimals, percentages, ratios, and complex calculations. They learn to solve problems, understand Cartesian planes, classify shapes, and interpret data in advanced contexts.

SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT Year 6 is crucial for social development as students prepare for secondary school, managing peer relationships and emotions. Building confidence, resilience, and emotional regulation sets the stage for future success.
