The Art Walk

What we all missed this year was the connection with people we love. Staying connected was not easy, but we did it. For us as a school community it is also time to get back together (restrictions considering) and make new memories.

We asked the children what 'connection' meant to them and translated that into 9 artworks. The artworks hang in various shop windows and bars.  We invite you to take a walk through Elwood, see the artworks and place a bid during the live stream fundraising auction!

Questions

How big can my group/team be?
10 people, including children.

Where does the walk start?
Point Ormond Reserve Playground, Marine Parade. A PFA member will be there to hand out team bags with all the items and instructions you need. Please arrive in your scheduled time to avoid overcrowding.

Where does the walk end?
At Point Ormond Reserve Playground, Marine Parade for a BYO picnic.

What time does it start?
There are 4 time slots to choose from: 2.00, 2.15, 2.30 and 2.45. Per time slots 5 groups of 10 people can depart. We do this to maintain social distancing. You can choose a time when you register.

How long will the walk take?
About 30-45 minutes.

Where are the artworks?
The artworks have been placed in 9 different shop windows throughout Elwood. We won't tell which is where, to make the walk a surprise :)

Can older students do the walk by themselves?
Unfortunately not. A minimum of 1 adult per team is required to make sure the children maintain social distancing.

Where do we picnic?
In Point Ormond Reserve Playground.

Do we need to stick to the group of 10 when having a picnic?
No, you can congregate up to 50 people. We do want to point out that forming a larger group than 50 is against Covid safety rules. The school will not be liable for any fines.

How will the auction work?
If you are in the park, you'll see the auctioneer with a microphone. Every teambag has few coloured papers to wave with. Wave your colour and call out your price. Alternatively, you can watch this auction live via the school Facebook page. To do so, like the school page www.facebook.com/stcolumbasprimaryschool/ Once the live stream has started you can place a bid by addiing a comment.

How do I pay?
If you are lucky enough to win the bidding for a certain artwork, you can pay in the park, as we have a mobile EFTPOS.

What if it rains?
If the weather is bad, we will postpone it to Sunday 6 December.

What our parents & students say

"St Columba's is known as the little school with the big heart and you notice that when you first arrive. Every teacher and every student knows your child by name. They offer bespoke learning experiences for children to enjoy while at school."
